Aims

The major has been designed to provide graduates with:

  • A strong foundation in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of materials engineering, particularly their structure, properties and performance
  • An in-depth understanding of the processes and techniques used to ensure that materials related issues are accommodated in mechanical designs and systems
  • An ability to critically analyse and evaluate information and solve problems
  • Further skills in their ability to undertake research-oriented and practical projects
