Aims

With the graduate qualities identified by the university in mind, the Health Education major seeks to produce graduate with the following knowledge, skills and values:

  • A strong knowledge of theories, factual content, and research procedures in Health Education
  • A strong knowledge of pedagogies that enhance learners’ critical health literacy
  • The ability to utilise a range of teaching approaches that will foster in young people deep understanding of, and a capacity for, independent inquiry, and learning in cooperation with others in Health Education settings
  • The ability to analyse and critically evaluate ideas and solve problems in Health Education settings
  • The ability to draw links between physically educated individuals and the promotion and achievement of Health Education outcomes
  • A commitment to life-long learning and constant renewal of knowledge and skills in response to advances in the field
