Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Counselling articulates with the 18 unit Graduate Certificate in Counselling and the 72 unit Master of Counselling, and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the 3 awards.

This course provides students with the knowledge, skills and experience to deliver effective counselling approaches in a range of settings. The course introduces students to fundamental counselling theories and approaches that can be used to support individuals, groups and communities across the life course. The course is designed for those already working in health related professions (e.g., mental health, health care, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, youth work), and will extend knowledge and practice.

Aims

This course aims to

Prepare graduates to be reflexive, self-aware and competent to deliver support and care that addresses both the physical and mental health needs of individuals and communities
Develop competencies in evidence-based assessment, counselling and self-management interventions that are person-centric support options for a wide range of people and communities

Student progression rules
