GCDAA Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics - Online

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics covers not only the fundamental skills and techniques used in data analytics but also allows students to apply in domains such as health, business, science, government and technology. The course provides the skills needed to both interpret data using current methods, and to create the tools that will be needed to solve future problems of relevance to organisations, industry and government. This includes and understanding of coding and statistical methods.

The Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics requires 1 year of part-time study and can only be undertaken on a part time basis. The course articulates with the 36 unit Graduate Diploma in Data Science and the 72 unit Master of Data Science and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the three awards.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Admission may also be granted based on prior work experience. This will require 3 years of professional experience. Applicants who wish to be admitted on this basis need to provide:

A curriculum vitae
A description of job roles, skills and abilities that demonstrate the work experience requirement
Name(s) of two referee(s) who can verify work experience

However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.

This award aims to provide students with:

An extended knowledge of both the theoretical and practical aspects of data analytics and recent developments in the field
A mastery of the tools and technologies used in the professional application of data analytics approaches
A demonstrated understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and a commitment to them
An ability to critically analyse and evaluate data stores to creatively solve enterprise problems
An awareness of social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of data analytics
An understanding of the need for lifelong learning and the capacity to do so in the context of ensuring sustained relevancy of skills for future professional roles as a data analyst.
