Aims
This course aims to develop disciplinary knowledge in the field of second language acquisition and specifically in the area of TESOL. Students will develop the capacity to critique second language teaching methodologies and gain insights into the interaction between culture and language as it relates to TESOL, while investigating English language learning and teaching in diverse contexts. They will also identify research trends in the field of TESOL and determine how to appropriately use them in their own practice

Student progression rules
Students must achieve a GPA of at least 6 in topic ESOL9007 Research in TESOL to be able to continue in the coursework and research component stream. Students who do not receive the required GPA will instead take the coursework stream.
Note that students who wish to use their masters qualification to satisfy entry into a Flinders University research higher degree program are required to have completed at least an 18 unit research component.
