Aims

The course aims to: 

  • Combine practical training in screen production with film studies including screen media history, its social and cultural dimensions, and major theoretical concepts in film studies 
  • Facilitate work on creative projects in specialised areas such as writing, directing, producing, production management, cinematography, production design, location sound recording, editing and post-production 
  • Enable students to plan, develop and complete a body of work that is targeted at film festivals and audiences worldwide 
  • Connect students with industry, and offer industry placements that often lead to future employment opportunities 

Student progression rules

The award of a grade of Fail (F) on more than one occasion in the same topic, may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.
