Aims
This course has been designed with industry input to build on a student’s current knowledge of computing to prepare students to become computing professionals able to:
- Solve complex specialist cybersecurity problems as a result of practical networking and security knowledge
- Design, develop, install, execute and support secure applications, systems software and hardware products
- Solve complex, multi-disciplinary problems through the use of information technology
- Design, manage and analyse complex data-rich environments
- Work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team, including the ability to manage the team
- Exhibit a strong, practical understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course you will be able to:

Analyse, evaluate, create and manage policies and procedures to manage and secure networked solutions
2.
Analyse the nature and extent of network and security problems and be able to adapt to new and emerging threats
3.
Critically analyse and communicate the ethical, security and privacy issues in the modern networked world
4.
Analyse user problems and design appropriate and effective IT-based solutions
5.
Develop and evaluate IT solutions to problems drawing on knowledge and skills in networking, programming, security, database and web technologies, and which align with business needs and industry standards
6.
Understand and analyse human factors and apply ethical and professional practices
7.
Work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively in a variety of contexts
