Aims

The course aims to:

  • Foster the development of proficient levels of linguistic, socio-cultural and communicative competencies in a chosen language
  • Expose students to a wide body of knowledge relative to linguistic, and cultural knowledges and practices
  • Develop students' awareness of local and global communities of speakers relative to the language of study, and of issues pertaining to intercultural communications

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

Perform both orally and in writing at a proficient level of competence in the target language
2.
Analyse and react appropriately to key cultural aspects relative to the language of study
3.
Identify key issues in cross-and inter-cultural situations, interpret them, and take relevant steps to address them
4.
Argue towards a greater respect for local and global cultural and linguistic diversity
