Aims

The course aims to: 

  • Prepare students for specialised practice in a range of primary health care environments 
  • Facilitate development of specialised knowledge, skills attributes for application in a range of child and family health nursing environments 
  • Meet international, national, state and territory strategic health care goals in primary health care environments 

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:
1.
Asses the key concepts related to working with infants, children, young people and their families including safety, growth & development, attachment theories engagement and communication
2.
Contextualize working with infants, children, young people and their families in a broad primary health care framework
3.
Synthesise evidence of parenting and contemporary issues that impact promoting care and environments for support infants, children, young people and their families
4.
Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to practice at a specialist service in a community setting

Student progression rules

Failure to complete the course within four consecutive semesters or the award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion or in 9 units or more, may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.
