Aims

This course aims to:

  • Engage in critical reflection and continuing professional learning through the exploration of a range of historical and contemporary education perspectives
  • Enhance personal approaches to early childhood education through critical analysis of practical experience as well as in the light of a range of theoretical perspectives
  • Explore conceptual, technical and cognitive skills to investigate, analyse and evaluate early years play, curriculum, policy and pedagogy

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

Articulate current knowledge and an integrated understanding of the theories, content and processes of learning and teaching in the field of early childhood education
2.
Demonstrate the application of knowledge associated with contemporary early childhood curriculum
3.
Demonstrate dispositions towards relational and transformative education through developmentally appropriate, play-based practices

Student progression rules
