Aims

The course has been designed to provide or build upon the skills acquired in a relevant Bachelor's degree and specifically provide graduates of engineering, computing and design science awards with:
 
  • An understanding of the theory and practice of design and product development
  • An understanding of the theory and practice of design and process innovation and how it applies to one's chosen field of study
  • An understanding of User Experience (UX) research framed within a Human Centred Design approach
  • A commitment of purpose to initiate sustainable manufacturing decisions within a Circular Economy approach
  • An ability to carry out management decision tasks within a science or engineering-based enterprise
  • An ability to understand a specific science and engineering corporate structure including its operation, management responsibilities and business metrics for success
  • An ability to research and present design ideas, including communicating effectively with all stakeholder audiences in written and spoken form
  • An ability to undertake a complex design projects including the planning and execution of an individual or collaborative research project, applying relevant methodologies and accrued specialised knowledge
