Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Give shape, form and substance to the notion that the BA equips students with the type of skills employers recognise
  • Help students in the BA Enhanced degree identify and articulate how their university studies are applicable to the professional landscape
  • Improve and/or consolidate practical aspects of a student's BA studies (e.g. time management skills; problem-solving skills; collaborative and independent learning skills; strong communication skills)
  • Broaden students' perspectives about what further study or work opportunities are available after the completion of their Bachelor degree

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of the professional and career landscape associated with success in the BA Enhanced program and the major(s) being undertaken
2.
Report on the workplace knowledge and experience gained
3.
Within the context of their major area(s) of study, compare and contrast learning in the classroom and learning in the workplace
4.
Identify the knowledge, skills and attitudes that potential employers may have of graduates of the BA Enhanced program
5.
List and explain career goals and expectations, and analyse how these have been influenced by the workplace knowledge and experience gained in undertaking the topic
6.
Evaluate the relevance and significance of major area(s) of study towards achieving career goals and meeting career expectations
