Aims
The aim of this topic is to enable students to identify appropriate positive behaviour support strategies within a tiered approach for supporting people with behaviour support needs and consider PBS service provision in the context of policy and practice guidelines.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Communicate the underlying principles of positive behaviour support to key stakeholders
2.
Determine the importance of indirect and direct assessment methods in identifying factors influencing the occurrence of behaviours of concern
3.
Identify behavioural support needs according to a tiered framework (from universal approaches to individualised strategies)
4.
Explain the relevance and scope of PBS Knowledge to each service level within an organisation providing PBS
5.
Explain how PBS service provision is situated within policy and practice guidelines
