Understanding theories that explain how individuals develop and learn will help pre-service teachers to establish relational skills, classroom organisation and curriculum that are inclusive of and effective for a range of diverse learners. Pre-service teachers will have the opportunity to experience and develop a range of teaching and learning strategies, collaborative skills, reflective writing skills and continue their development of their personal philosophy of teaching. Pre-service teachers will work in small groups using inquiry-based learning to investigate aspects of development and learning relating to teachers' practice.

Aims
This topics aims to develop pre-service teachers’ knowledge of the way people develop and learn and to understand that teaching actions are based on this knowledge.
