Aims
This topic aims to develop capacities in pre‐service teachers to:
- Evaluate current numeracy research focused on students with learning difficulties
- Appraise, and interpret numeracy assessment processes
- Explain how numeracy intervention programs for students with learning difficulties may be implemented
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Discuss major theories and factors which may inhibit development of numeracy

Determine how the educational elements of curriculum, assessment, instruction, and learning, are interdependent
3.
Assess links between evidence‐based research and practical application in classrooms
4.
Prioritise and plan intervention programs by analysing assessment information
5.
Evaluate selection of instructional strategies based on evidence‐informed research
6.
Create resources that may be used to develop diverse students’ numeracy knowledge, understanding, and skills
