Overview

This topic is designed to enhance pre‐service teachers’ capacity to effectively integrate information communication technology (ICT) and numeracy across the Australian Curriculum. Pre‐service teachers will be introduced to the relevant issues and the strategies available to support the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT in learning and teaching. This topic examines numeracy as a life skill that is important for living in the contemporary world, the relationship between numeracy and mathematics, and the connections between the curriculum and the world beyond the classroom. Pre‐service teachers will combine high impact numeracy teaching strategies and the characteristics of ICT that support constructivist learning to design a lesson which expands curriculum learning opportunities for students.

Develop pre‐service teachers’ understandings of the relevant issues and the strategies available to support the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT in learning and teaching
Enhance pre‐service teachers’ capacity to integrate ICT and numeracy to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students
