This topic aims to:
- Critically examine the purposes and practices of assessment from a range of perspectives
- Critically evaluate assessment policies and practices using research-based evidence
- Investigate the process of planning, implementing and responding to assessments in the context of current curricula
- Consider inclusive assessment methods
- Explore interpretations of and responses to assessment
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Describe the nature and purposes of assessment, standards, and accountability from a number of philosophical perspectives
2.
Plan of assessment activities including setting learning goals in relation to current curricula, designing assessment tasks, setting achievement standards, anticipating responses and preparing feedback
3.
Critically evaluate methods of assessment, standard setting, and accountability using statistical and non-statistical methods
4.
Apply and evaluate knowledge of inclusive assessment methods
