Aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce students to the intentions and role of EIA in environmental management
- Draw students' attention to aspects of the EIA process requiring further investigation and improvement for enhanced environmental outcomes
- Highlight variability of EIA processes in different states of Australia and in other countries to illustrate strengths and challenges in existing EIA practice
- Provide students with the opportunity to simulate specific activities in the EIA process
- Provide students with the opportunity to evaluate key EIA documentation
- Encourage students to develop a range of transferable skills
