Aims

On completion of this topic pre-service teachers will have an appreciation for the complex and contested nature of health and well-being within schools and the broader community. Through exploration of a multi-dimensional approach to well-being and health education, pre-service teachers will gain an appreciation for a range of personal and societal factors that impact an individual’s ability to be well. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the challenges, barriers, conflicting perspectives and impacting factors that enable and constrain an individual’s ability to achieve a positive sense of health and wellbeing.

Apply understandings of health and well-being to critically analyse health information, improve their own health and well-being status and educate others

Implement a multi-dimensional well-being framework to support the development of students’ health and well-being in the school context

Discuss a range of factors that impact an individual’s health and well-being status across multiple domains
