Aims
This topic aims to:
- Further develop basic reading skills, using authentic written Indonesian language from newspapers, magazines, poems and short stories
- Extend speaking skills in short discussions based on the themes or related issues familiar to students as covered in the reading texts
- Expose students to wide range of interesting social themes in contemporary Indonesia, to build related vocabulary
- Expose students to applied grammar by analysing the reading texts through explanation and exercises involving Indonesian grammar
- Train students to apply sentence structures and appropriate grammatical points in guided writing exercises
- Enable students to listen to and understand the gist of spoken informal Indonesian language through feature movie clips and short audio and audio visual material
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Construe a breadth of meanings from everyday natural written texts and spoken passages in Indonesian, across different genres and text types
2.
Use moderately complex Indonesian to communicate independently and efficiently in speech and in writing, in a range of text types and for different purposes
3.
Interpret and produce a range of complex grammatical and syntactical structures and vocabulary in Indonesian
4.
Integrate specific features of Indonesian culture, as they are expressed through language: history, society, etc.
