Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Give students the opportunity to examine the operation of law in society and issues of access to justice
  • Place in an authentic context the law (including procedural law) that students have been studying
  • Develop an understanding of issues that are central to being a lawyer
  • Further develop the practice of self-reflection

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Determine relevant factual, legal and policy issues by undertaking advanced and in depth research

Solve novel problems and evaluate complex issues through the contextual and sophisticated application of legal knowledge to law reform or other advanced projects

Persuade effectively through professional oral and written communication

Demonstrate a high level of personal autonomy and accountability

Collaborate effectively to manage professional projects focussed on innovation, change or social impact
6.
Critically evaluate theory and professional practice in the discipline of law and maintain high standards of ethical and professional behaviour
