Overview

This topic explores themes relating to Greek or Cypriot history and culture as illustrated through authentic written, aural/oral and/or visual texts. More specifically students explore Greek or Cypriot contemporary societal and historical patterns which have a direct impact on everyday life.

Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Provide further opportunities for the development or consolidation of students' background knowledge of socio-cultural issues related to Greek art, literature and society
  • Further develop learners' critical and analytical skills through the study of contemporary or earlier texts, and foster students' involvement in individual research projects

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Summarise and illustrate historical, artistic and social developments related to the cultural component, and use them as context for the interpretation, comparison and critiquing of texts
2.
Identify and organise relevant research material in order to produce sound academic texts
