Aims

This topic aims to offer each student a structured, clinical framework to acquire and demonstrate competencies in the delivery of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) with people experiencing high prevalence psychological disorders within a low and high intensity stepped-care model. Students will receive regular individual and group clinical supervision throughout the practicum. The topic covers several areas: case studies; assessment and formulations; manualised treatment models; guided self-help; clinical supervision and reflective practice; clinical portfolio; and audio recordings of clinical sessions. Students are required to meet all pre-placement and fit for placement requirements prior to undertaking the practicum.

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate clinical competencies in the delivery of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), for high prevalence psychological disorders within a low and high intensity stepped-care model

Apply and integrate clinical supervision models within a cognitive behavioural framework

Recognise and respond to a stepped-care model of intervention for high prevalence psychological disorders

Contribute to providing accessible, evidence-based psychological interventions for people with mental health disorders

Deliver CBT to a range of people experiencing psychological disorders

Students are required to undertake placement within their current workplace or submit an expression of interest to the Topic Coordinator for alternative options prior to the commencement of the topic. Students are required to meet all pre-placement and fit for placement requirements prior to undertaking the practicum.
