Aims
This topic aims to provide students with knowledge, skills and competence in clinical pharmacology and medication administration in midwifery practice.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Explain the effect of pregnancy on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
2.
Apply knowledge of commonly prescribed drug groups in midwifery practice (pharmacotherapy) for the childbearing woman, fetus and neonate
3.
Apply the scientific basis of drug interactions and polypharmacy to clinical practice
4.
Identify and critically analyse medication management of the pregnant woman using evidence based practice
5.
Identify and critically analyse ethical and legal issues in medication management
