Aims
This topic aims to continue to develop the student's basic biomedical knowledge, the application of that knowledge, to demonstrate their ability to make simple decisions about patients, to communicate, to understand the Australian Health Care System, to become a self-regulated learner, a responsible group member and leader, and to demonstrate appropriate professionalism.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Further develop their basic knowledge of the human body as well as clinical and health systems and continue to develop the understanding of research methods and the role that they play in making sense of biomedical, clinical and health systems based knowledge
2.
Apply the basic and developed knowledge related to clinical practice: about health and illness, the successful interaction with patients and health systems
3.
Demonstrate the ability to make simple and more complex decisions about patients' health status with reference to the social and society environment
4.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, with cultural safety at a basic and intermediate level
5.
Continue to develop a basic understanding of the Australian health care system
6.
Demonstrate basic and intermediate skills and improved understanding in relation to becoming an independent, collaborative self-regulated learner
7.
Demonstrate an understanding of the different roles within a group and the ability to demonstrate initiative and responsibility in a group setting
8.
Demonstrate professionalism, particularly in relation to ethical and legal behaviour with staff and students and in their interactions with patients
