Aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce the key concepts of searching the literature and critically appraising research in palliative care
- Developing skills in critiquing practice and applying evidence to practice
- Review the key principles of palliative care and the theoretical and policy frameworks that underpin the practice of palliative care
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Critically appraise current literature and demonstrate effective academic writing skills
2.
Apply basic concepts of the research process in palliative care
3.
Evaluate the national and international policies that impact on the delivery of end of life and palliative care
4.
Apply an understanding of the theoretical framework underpinning palliative care to their current or future practice
5.
Describe a number of approaches to the provision of end of life and palliative care, including a public health approach
