Aims
Students are required to undertake a period of at least 20 weeks (or an acceptable equivalent) of full-time work experience with a placement provider. During this period, students will work under the general supervision of a practicing professional in their discipline, and will perform a range of technical or management tasks.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Have an insight and understanding of the nature and complexities of project work within industrial and / or research organisations

Understand the structure and operation of the company or organisation, and its responsibilities to shareholders, employees, customers, and the general public
3.
Understand the influences of commercial, economic, social, cultural, political, legal, industrial and environmental issues affecting companies, organisations or employees as it relates to their discipline
4.
Appreciate the responsibilities, roles, attitudes, values, priorities, judgement and work methods of practising professionals in industry
5.
Communicate effectively in a range of technical and business situations
6.
Exhibit maturity in their own professional attitudes, and reconcile the obligations, responsibilities and actions of professionals with their own values
