Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Critically evaluate the main tenets of feminist political theory in the light of both historical and contemporary social constructions of gender relations
2.
To research gender issues related to politics and policy making, present findings both verbally and in written form, in accordance with good scholarly practice
3.
Identify and demonstrate ways in which women are disempowered and empowered in culturally specific social, economic and political circumstances
4.
Undertake an independent research paper on a substantive issue, encompassed within this topic, pursuant to the specific specialist interest of the student
