Overview
This topic builds upon students' previous knowledge to provide training in a range of advanced field methods. The topic will contain some lecture and workshop content, but will mostly be directed towards teaching students hands-on technical skills.
Aims
This topic aims to:
- Develop advanced field skills associated with the practice of archaeology and cultural heritage management in Australia and overseas
- Further develop students' knowledge of ethical practice in archaeology
- Advance students' familiarity with theoretical, methodological and political issues in archaeological research
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Accurately and appropriately record sites, artefacts and landscapes at an advanced level
2.
Undertake research with communities in an ethical and culturally appropriate way
3.
Understand the diverse techniques used in archaeological site and artefact recording, management, and conservation
4.
Appropriately record, store, and disseminate findings relating to archaeology
5.
Record and document the fieldwork process to an acceptable professional standard
