Aims
This topic aims to:
- Enhance pre-service teachers' confidence, knowledge and skills in science learning and teaching
- Enable pre-service teachers to develop an appropriate program in science for children
- Enhance pre-service teachers' personal approach to science teaching based on their critical analysis of practical experiences in light of theoretical perspectives
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate high level scientific process skills, literacy and knowledge through experimental learning
2.
Discuss how science may be integrated across the curriculum in ways which encourage children's curiosity and play as they investigate their natural and built environments
3.
Identify techniques to support children's increasing awareness of safety procedures related to science investigatory play
4.
Critically assess personal attitudes towards science, its applications and how their scientific identity has been shaped by family and culture both locally and globally
5.
Plan a balanced, sequential unit of work in science by drawing on The Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum: Science
