Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Develop preservice teachers’ knowledge of the concepts, substance, structure and teaching strategies in a Senior Years teaching area
  • Provide preservice teachers with opportunities to apply learning design to Secondary schooling contexts
  • Extend preservice teachers’ understanding of learning design processes, including curriculum, pedagogical strategies and assessment
  • Support preservice teachers in developing effective strategies for data evaluation, reporting and moderation
  • Cultivate opportunities for preservice teachers to develop a rationale for their ongoing professional learning engagement

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Synthesise their understanding of Secondary Schooling contexts in relation to learning design processes
2.
Apply deep knowledge of the concepts, substance, structure and teaching strategies in a teaching area to learning design processes
3.
Organise teaching area content into an effective learning and teaching sequence
4.
Evaluate a range of strategies, including moderation to support student learning
5.
Analyse data to inform learning design and use a range of reporting
6.
Engage in practices that demonstrate commitment to life-long professional learning
