Aims

This topic aims to develop in students a theoretical and practical understanding of electrical engineering principles, through studying:

  • Electrical and magnetic systems
  • Energy conversion
  • The social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of electrical engineering

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate in depth understanding of the basic electrical engineering principles and their applications used in construction and design of the electrical machines, devices and power systems in the past, present and future
2.
Analyse and categories different electrical devices and equipment used in Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution
3.
Discuss and evaluate the social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of electrical engineering in the context of occupational and safety standards and requirements related to electrical engineering practice.
