This topic aims to give students an understanding of the concepts associated with geotechnical engineering.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Develop spreadsheets to perform parametric studies and produce design charts for geotechnical design problems

Analyse foundations using computer software

Design and conduct experimental investigation of the behaviour of foundations through physical modelling
