Aims

This topic aims to provide students with the opportunity to undertake independent preparatory work in planning for their research project, within a supported and supervised environment. In consultation with the topic coordinator, students will identify a research topic and question(s) of interest that has direct relevance to broad areas covered within the Master of Clinical Education program. This topic will enable students to consolidate their capacity to independently plan and design a clinical education research study, prepare and submit an ethics application to a relevant institutional human research ethics committee, critically evaluate the clinical education literature, and develop as an autonomous researcher.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Plan and design a clinical education research study in an area relevant to clinical education
2.
Formulate an operational research question that is justified by the literature
3.
Search, critically appraise and synthesise the empirical and theoretical literature relevant to the topic under investigation
4.
Identify and critique the conceptual/theoretical framework, study design and methods appropriate for the research topic under consideration
5.
