Aims

The students will be provided the opportunity to:

  • Analyse the relationships between movement constructions in physical education, sport and sociological contexts
  • Consider issues associated with teaching and coaching pedagogies in relation to the range of contexts pertinent to physical education and sport
  • Situate themselves in relation to the content and applied experiences within the topic as preparation for future professional experiences and industry placements

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of how particular teaching and coaching pedagogies and forms of content contribute to a diversity of movement experiences
2.
Demonstrate understanding and critical awareness of how physical education teachers and sport coaches reinforce and challenge social and cultural constructions relating to movement
3.
Apply theoretical constructs of the topic by teaching/coaching across a variety of applied activities (dance, athletics and gymnastics), with a particular focus on adaptive practices
