Aims
Project management for health promotion is designed to provide students with an opportunity to:
- Apply theoretical knowledge to the provision of health promotion activities and programs to individuals and populations
- Gain practical experience in conducting a small scale project from the initial design stage through to evaluation, using the techniques and skills of project management, systematic and evidence based literature searches and minute taking
- Develop competency in working professionally with professionals and peers in teams
- Increase their awareness of community resources in health promotion
- Broaden and strengthen their skills in performing practical tasks in health promotion such as skills in MS Project, Gannt charts, formal meeting procedures, grant writing and public speaking
- Receive feedback on their performance in completing a project that has incorporated evidence based health promotion
- Evaluate the project within the framework of health promotion
The topic forms part of the menu of the Health Promotion and Education professional stream of the Bachelor of Health Sciences, but may be taken by any other student in the award as an elective topic.
