Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Consolidate and develop further the students' knowledge of the basic phonetics and grammatical structures of the Italian language through interactive learning and participation in a wide range of activities that focus on the four macro skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Develop the communicative competence of students through role-play and collaborative linguistic skills development in Italian
  • Enhance students' socio-cultural understanding in relation to contemporary Italy

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Identify detailed information from short, simple written texts and spoken passages in Italian, of different personal and social contexts
2.
Use basic Italian to produce original texts in speech and in writing, in a greater range of personal and social contexts
3.
Produce an expanded range of basic grammatical and syntactical structures and vocabulary through interpretation in Italian
4.
Use new and specific features of Italian culture, as they are expressed through language: celebrations, shopping, travel, gastronomy, etc.
