Aims

This topic aims to provide each participant with the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and confidence to:

  • Apply skills in critically evaluating a variety of internationally recognised client-centred health behaviour change models and theories and their underpinning principles and processes
  • Translate these models into effective and sustainable clinical practice, improving individual and public health outcomes related to chronic conditions

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Analyse and compare health behavioural change theories and models
2.
Examine the underlying principles and processes of four health behaviour change theories and models
3.
Examine the underlying principles and processes of three health behaviour change theories and models
4.
Develop an action plan to demonstrate the application of a health behaviour change theory and model to practice

Requisites information

Pre-requisites:

Assumed knowledge

An undergraduate qualification and experience in a health science or health-related discipline (including from medicine, nursing, allied health and the welfare sector). Current or recent experience of working in the health, welfare, rehabilitation or disability sectors involving the management of, or providing support to people with chronic physical and/or mental health conditions.
