Overview

The topic involves a supervised clinical placement in a workplace providing therapeutic support. You will have opportunities to acquire and demonstrate advanced counselling competencies when supporting people with physical and mental health conditions. Therapeutic approaches applied may include cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, schema therapy, and compassion-focused therapy.

Aims

This topic requires you to work alongside people with physical and mental health conditions to build and broaden all aspects of your role as a counsellor. You will be supported to work within a competency-based counselling approach. Placements are scaffolded with individual and group supervision.
