Overview
This Human Physiology topic is designed to develop students understanding of how the healthy human body functions including the control systems in place to regulate these functions. There are seven organ systems covered which include the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, endocrine and reproductive systems.

Aims
This topic aims to further develop students' understanding of human physiology. It provides students with an understanding of how the healthy human body works to maintain normal day to day homeostasis and how it adapts to challenges placed on it by the environment or imposed activities. Functions of the major organ systems covered in this topic include the cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine and reproductive systems.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Refine and further develop knowledge and comprehension of human physiology relating to the normal structure and function of human organ systems
2.
Perform laboratory techniques to acquire data relating to physiological variables in an authentic practical context
3.
Apply theoretical and factual knowledge of human physiology to analyse, interpret and communicate experimental physiology data
4.
Develop abilities to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment to complete academic tasks
5.
Reflect on how human physiology can be applied to a variety of work contexts
