Aims

This topic aims to introduce students to the knowledge and skills needed to work ethically with diverse individuals, providing students with the opportunity to practice interpersonal skills development, including those used therapeutically in interviewing, assessment, and recording. 

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Examine the purpose and use of deliberate practice and social work supervision
2.
Investigate reflexive engagement with developing professional identity, and evaluate practice and integrate theory, ethics, and legal obligations into their own professional conduct
3.
Research direct practice and social work ethics and how they fit together to promote social justice goals
4.
Establish preliminary social work professional skills, through activities, and tasks through conducting social work interviews with individuals in a manner that establishes a beginning therapeutic alliance
