Aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce students to diverse contexts of social work practice
- Provide students with the opportunity to identify the salient factors impacting on diverse client systems
- Discuss culturally competent approaches that underlie social work interventions with diverse client systems
- Present the complexity of social work fields of practice and service organisations
- Provide an appreciation of the historical and international context of social work and diversity

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Critique personal, structural, environmental and intersectional perspectives required to understand human diversity

Appraise and articulate an understanding of theories and perspective that inform inclusive social work practice with diverse service participants
3.
Evaluate the essential components of culturally responsive and inclusive practice and their importance in engaging in service participants
4.
Critique stereotypes and practices that contribute to oppression, marginalisation or social exclusion of people society, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
