Aims

This topic aims to facilitate students' ability to:

  • Formulate answerable clinical questions
  • Locate and evaluate evidence to support and enhance their clinical practice
  • Evaluate the quality of research and other relevant evidence
  • Integrate research evidence with client/family values and clinical expertise in the diagnosis, assessment or management of clients to formulate recommendations to guide clinical practice
  • Enable students to develop skills in oral and written presentation of research findings

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Assess the suitability of a range of research findings to answer a specific clinical question
2.
Analyse and evaluate the quality of research in terms of methodological rigour
3.
Apply the principles of evidence-based practice in their everyday practice
