Aims
This topic aims to support students to:
- Help students identify and analyse key discourses in media representations and the ways in which power relations are challenged as well as reproduced through our interaction with media
- Offer students the opportunity to develop specific skills in media analysis
- Help students critically reflect on issues related to gender, sexuality, class, race and disability in media and popular culture
- Help students develop oral presentation skills

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Appraise a number of feminist approaches to analyzing of media texts

Evaluate the discourses and dominant meanings produced in a media text
3.
Assess a critical reflection on a contemporary topical issues related to gender, sexuality, race, class or disability
