Aims
This topic aims to:
- Develop recording, excavation, oral history and analytical skills associated with the practice of Indigenous archaeology in Australia
- Further develop students' knowledge of ethical practice in Indigenous archaeology
- Advance students' familiarity with theoretical issues relating to Indigenous culture and heritage
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Accurately and appropriately assess Indigenous artefacts, sites, places and landscapes at an advanced level
2.
Plan research with Indigenous communities in an ethical and culturally appropriate manner
3.
Evaluate the diverse techniques and methods used by archaeologists and Indigenous people in recording Indigenous artefacts, sites, places and landscapes
4.
Produce a variety of fieldwork outputs to an acceptable professional standard
