Overview

The topic involves clinical education in its entirety. The main component will be the second of two clinical block placements of 4 days per week for 5 weeks. The placements in metropolitan, regional and remote audiology services will be organised by staff.

Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Develop the student's knowledge and skills in areas of professional practice which require them to plan, develop, manage and evaluate initiatives within the workplace and within community settings
  • Develop the student's understanding of evidence-based practice in the health professions and the ability to apply this to clinical audiology

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Demonstrate clinical competence in conducting, interpreting and reporting on basic hearing aid fitting, advanced diagnostic assessment and related issues
2.
Demonstrate independent ability to handle straightforward paediatric and adult clients in routine clinical situations
