Aims
This topic aims to achieve:
- Understanding of the nature and importance of leadership in business and society
- Understanding of the differences between leadership and management
- An appreciation of the types of leadership and how they impact on business, society and those led
- An understanding of how leaders lead and how leadership is practised
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Recognise leadership in practice in business and society

Differentiate between management and leadership and how and when to apply these differences

Work within a group using both leadership and followership skills where appropriate
