Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Provide an opportunity for students to develop an understanding of research and the skills necessary to conduct a study in an area of the student's interest, with the assistance of a supervisor
  • Provide the chance to enhance research skills by working in an intensive way and reading widely on a particular issue
  • Enable a student to show originality in the writing of an extended piece of argument which is supported by a range of evidence
  • Adequately prepare the student for postgraduate work

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Define an appropriate research problem and relate it to the relevant theoretical literature

Design an appropriate research methodology to address a selected problem
3.
Collect, and/or analyse and interpret data relating to the selected research problem

Communicate research results clearly and concisely according to scholarly practice
