Aims
In this topic, students will explore the institutions and operations of the criminal justice systems within Australia, and with reference to global contexts. Students will critically evaluate the effectiveness of the system in achieving ‘justice’.

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Examine and discuss the aims and practices of the criminal justice system and the agencies within it
2.
Describe the concept of ‘justice’ and explore what justice means for different agencies and individuals
3.
Assess the system’s effectiveness in achieving ‘justice’ and barriers to justice, using contemporary criminological/socio-legal evidence
