Aims
This topic aims to:
Develop students’ understanding of the dynamics of space in performance, and how those dynamics may be incorporated into the creative process of conceiving and delivering a production
Equip students with the skills to shape and control meaning in non-determinative live and virtual spaces including in-the-round/installation/virtual reality
Enhance students’ awareness of both the innate spatial dynamics of various architectural forms of real and virtual performance spaces, and the capacity of the creative team to instigate spatial dynamics through design and the interaction of the performers’ bodies
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Analyse how spatial dynamics enhance and inform performance in non-determinative live and digital spaces
2.
Demonstrate a practical and intellectual understanding of spatial dynamics in performance for live and digital space
3.
Communicate concepts related to spatial dynamics to actors and creative collaborators in the production of a new or extant scene for live or virtual spaces
4.
Develop a design response to performance text which prioritises the communication of meaning through body in space and proxemics
